Greyflower sighed and walked back to the nursery. Silverkit followed Wildbite.

Blackkit nooded.

"We got attacked by one," Silverkit sobbed. (BRB)

Goldkit just looked at him. "Do you think we won't become apprentices?" She blurted out.

"You will. You can't NOT become an apprentice. You have to, one day!"

Wildbite put some cobwebs and marigold. "You need some rest. Here are some poppy seeds. Tell me what you need to say to Moonstar, and I will give the message."

I went to Wildbite's den. I hope to become his apprentice one day. I saw Goldkit, Silverkit and Blackkit there. "What are you guys doing here?"

That doesn't reassure me of anything! She thought, annoyed at Wildbite's answer.

"But...." She started again, "Do you think....that....our....apprenticeship will be," she squeaked out the last word, "delayed?"

Hoping for a clear answer, she looked at the white tom as he was working with herbs.

"We went to a badger's den, to kill it and bring it.. so we can show we're brave enough to become apprentices." Blackkit replied.
Wildbite gave a disaproving look.

"You Guys could have been Killed!! Hello Wildbite! Need any help?"

Wildbite answered, "It was foolish for you to try to kill one, and to be hoest, I think your apprenticeship mgiht be delayed... When I was a kit, I was just like you. i became deaf in my left ear for a week, because of me trying to kill a fox..."

"Wildbite do you need any help?"

Oh, fantastic! Rotten words and disgusting herbs! Goldkit thought bitterly.

"I would prefer if....we.....Blackkit, Silverkit, and I told Moonstar...." She mumbled, her voice almost inaudible.

We fought off the badger. We should tell her!

She noticed her friend, Icekit, enter the den. "Oh, hi, Icekit."

"Thanks, but no thanks." Wildbite said. "Goldkit and Silverkit, stop shaking. Ah thanks."
"Icekit, I would love if you become my apprentice. And, you know what? I can ask moonstar if you can become an apprentice... She would be glad. We need more apprentices."

Blackkit gave a look of jealousy.

Why does he want to tell Moonstar? Does he want to steal our accomplishment and our glory? We fought off the badger! We found the badger!

But she didn't say any of this, she just replied, "Oh."

Not fair! Definitely not fair! We fought off a BADGER! I should be happy for her..... She's my friend... Goldkit reminded herself, but she quickly became angry as she remembered that she probably won't become an apprentice. But it's not fair! I should be an apprentice too!

Goldkit was envious. No doubt about that. Even though she did feel happy for her friend, she struggled to smile at Icekit and mumbled, "Congratulations." Then, she looked away quickly and started focusing on an herb to distract herself from her own anger.

Wildbite sighed, "You're angry, right? A medicine cat knows a lot. Well, you're all set. Oh, perfect timing! Moonstar is back!"

"Blackpaw! Blackpaw!"
"Congratulations!" Wildbite said.
Darkheart greeted them. "Wow! Nice!"
Blackpaw grinned.
