Maybe because she died during the first book? I mean, she had to guide him during the entire series and during Firestar's Quest, so the choice had to be a cat who died in the very beginning of the series.

I think she was a good choice, because she could guide Leafpool and sort of sympathize with her 'struggle'. The struggle that they sort of both share is that they both fell in love, even though they were medicine cats. Although, Spottedleaf wasn't alive for long; she probably would have ended up falling in love. That's just me guessing, though. Also, Spottedleaf helped Leafpool with herbs once, did she not?

So, a medicine cat had to be "the special cat" for some of those things to happen. Spottedleaf was the ThunderClan medicine cat, and Firestar is in ThunderClan, sooooo. . . . Well, you probably see where I'm going. XD

Also, who do you think should have guided him throughout the series? I'm curious.


The choice of Spottedleaf added tension between Firestar and Sandstorm. Sandstorm still thought Firestar loved Spottedleaf. It added some interest in the book, for those who enjoy the little bit of romance in the Warriors series. There is romance in it. I personally read it for the action and adventure. There is a lot of 'forbidden love', when a medicine cat falls in love or when a Clan cat falls in love with a cat from another Clan. LOL. So, I think that pleased some fans.

True. I was just thinking Firestar didn't know her well, and then Spottedleaf died, and started to tell him everything, it's weird. TO ME.

Yup, I guess. I think they were going for a "love at first sight" thing. He didn't know her well, but ended up liking her. I even thought, while reading the first book, that maybe they would end up . . . together. XD

There are a couple hints . . . that he sort of likes her. I put the hints, well; the things I think are tiny hints, in spoilers and bolded. The reason is below the spoiler. ^^

I don’t really see any hints here (that’s why there’s no bolding), but now it’s obvious he feels more comfortable around her. He seems to have taken, let’s just say, a more relaxed position? XD

He feels happy . . . even though he has to see Yellowfang . . . with mouse bile? XD

And he’s looking at her, why? And why is her glancing at her “shyly”? LOL.

This indicates that Sandpaw has been sour when Firepaw has visited Spottedleaf before. She knows that he’s fond of her.

Of course, it’s normal to feel sad when anyone has died, so I wouldn’t consider this an actual hint. Well. . . I don’t know. XD

“All the other cats had run for shelter, abandoning the medicine cat’s body to the downpour”, but Firepaw still went to share tongues, despite the rain. “Good-bye, my sweet Spottedleaf."; oh, come on! He obviously liked her. XD

And these were only some from the first book. There are probably a lot more. The point is: they liked each other. Maybe not a lot, but they did, so, in a way, they were already close. There are hints that she even liked him back when she rubbed his cheek with her nose. Of course, it was sudden. I think that is “love at first sight”. Maybe not at first sight, though, probably, love at multiple sights? LOL.

I have no idea... not really. I mean she was the medicine cat at that time...
(I did read the whole thing, did you research or reread the whole book? or something else?)

LOL. I didn't. I did reread the whole book, but I don't have THAT good memory. I have a Kindle; I just typed in 'Spottedleaf, Firepaw' and all those little parts popped up in my search results. And then I typed . . . and yeah. ^^

And I knowwwwww I don't have to. I just wanted to post parts with Spottedleaf.

lol I was reading Rising Storm and It took me like 2 weeks to read it! The first time I read it, i read it in 2 days.

I tried to reread but there was tons of other books I wanted to read. And I already reread the first series 4 times.
